Abstract

A novel phase-lock type clock recovery technique based on a terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) is proposed. The technique is compatible with the conventional time-division multiplexing (TDM) timing techniques but does not require the ultrahigh-speed optical detector nor ultrafast electrical components. Further, it can readily be used to achieve frame synchronization, upon which a complete self-timing demultiplexer can be demonstrated.
