Abstract
Twenty patients with malignant tumor of the testis, who had received no previous treatment and had been admitted to the hospital in a 5-year period between 1986 and 1990, are clinically studied. The age on presentation accounted for a peak of 9 men in their twenties, and the incidence thereafter decreased with age, with 61 being the oldest. Histology of the primary tumors included seminoma in 11 men, yolk sac tumor in 1, embryonal carcinoma in 1, and mixed type in 7. One patient with embryonal cancer and one with mixed type succumbed. The follow-up interval was 6 years or less and 17 patients remained free from disease at the time of final treatment. We discussed radiotherapy which was employed in patients with seminoma, and VAB-6 combination chemotherapy. In addition, a detailed clinical course of one patient with testicular seminoma which had developed in an cryptorchisim is reported.
