Abstract
This paper introduces the NTCIR Workshops, a series of evaluation workshops that are designed to enhance research in information access technologies, such as information retrieval, text summarization, question answering, information extraction, and text mining, by providing large-scale test collections and a forum for researchers. A brief history and descriptions of tasks, participants, test collections and CLIR evaluation at the workshops, and a brief overview of the third NTCIR Workshop are given. To conclude, some thoughts on future directions are suggested.KeywordsInformation RetrievalDocument CollectionQuestion AnsweringTest CollectionRelevance JudgmentThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
