Abstract

A self-consistent nonlinear theory for a clinotron model that takes into account static electron trajectories in the focusing magnetic field and the loss in the slow-wave structure, the clinotron amplification mode is analyzed for different ratios of the operating and starting currents, input signal levels, and the inclination angle of the electron beam relative to the surface of the slow-wave structure. The gain and the amplification band are calculated. It is demonstrated that the main theoretical data are qualitatively consistent with the experimental results obtained using a clinotron model operating in the five millimeter wave band.
