Abstract

Accidental high voltage electric current can cause potentially life-threatening and blinding injuries. A young man presented with reduced vision in both his eyes for the previous 3 months. He had posterior subcapsular opacities in both eyes (more in the left eye). He did not give any significant history of trauma or use of steroids. He had a well-healed scar on the forehead, and on the inquiry about the scar, he revealed a history of electrocution 1 year before. He was diagnosed as a case of electric cataract and underwent phacoemulsification and foldable intraocular lens implantation with excellent visual outcome in the left eye. On histopathology of anterior capsule, focal areas of calcification were noted, which is to the authors' knowledge, a new finding, unreported earlier.
