Abstract
Background: In order to enable proper determination of AF-burden and asymptomatic arrhythmia episodes in patients with paroxysmal AF, we developed the AF-ALARM. This is an easy wearable, external loop recorder with buit-in algorithm for automated detection and electrocardiogram storage of AF, based on RR-irregularity during two-minute intervals. Previously, the algorithm proved to be very accurate in detecting AF on RR-interval files from the MIT database or derived from Holter recordings.
