Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of nasal tube post-pyloric feeding in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia.Methods 67 patients were randomly divided into control group (33 cases) and observation group (34 cases),the control group was used conventional gastric tube,and the observation group was given nasal tube post-pyloric feeding,we compared the serum albumin,CRP,WBC,mechanical ventilation,SOFA and the incidence of reflux,the incidence of VAP,the success rate of weaning from the ventilator and mortality.Results The observation group was significantly higher than the control group in the level of serum albumin,P<0.05,and was significantly lower than the control group in CRP,WBC,mechanical ventilation,SOFA and the incidence of reflux,the incidence of VAP,and had a higher off-line success rate and lower mortality.Conclusion Nasal tube post-pyloric feeding can satisfy the nutritional needs of critically ill patients.It has advantages of simple operation,safe and low cost,which should be applied widely Key words: Nasal tube post-pyloric feeding; Conventional gastric tube; Ventilator-associated pneumonia; Nutrition
