Abstract
Objective To observe the changes of sICAM-1 and VEGF levels after operation in patients with colorectal carcinoma, and analyze the relationship between the sICAM-1,VEGF levels and clinical pathological factors. Methods The sICAIM-1 and VEGF levels were measured with ELISA in 35 patients with colorectal carcinoma both before and after operation as well as in 35 controls of healthy adults. Results Before operadon, the serum sICAM-1 and VEGF levels in the patients [(230.78±61.22)μg/L and (310.15±51.56)ng/L,respectively]were significantly higher than those in the controls [(151.22±51.61)μg/L and (137.33±60.21)ng/L] (P<O.01),and were much higher in stage C [(238.83±60.17)μg/L and (330.15±50.13)ng/L] than that in stage A and B [(216.78±53.11)μg/L and (301.11±49.06).ng/L] (P<0.05).There were also significant difference between colorectal carcinomas with [(251.01±59.27)μg/L and (318.78±52.33)ng/L] and without lymph node metastasis [(220.13±63.19)μg/L and(293.66±41.98)ng/L](p<0.05).Six months after operation, the two indexes were(173.06±60.13)μg/L and (146.28±51.26)ng/L in patients without recurrence, which returned to normal level, and (220.16±54.46)μg/L and(307.11±47.88)ng/L in the patients with recurrence the levels, which were similar to those before operation. Conclusions The levels of serum sICAM-1 and VEGF in patients with colorectal carcinoma were closely related to the Dukes stages and lymph node metastasis. It might be indices to predict tumor development, metastasis and prognosis.
