Abstract

Objective To detect the expression of microRNA (miRNA, miR)- 506 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues, and to explore the clinical significance of miR- 506 in the liver cancer. Methods The expression of miR- 506 in 70 cases of liver cancer and its adjacent tissues was detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) and the clinical data were analyzed. Results The relative value of expression of miR- 506 (0.32±0.04) in liver cancer was lower than that of peritumoral liver tissue (0.91±0.04, t=6.342, P=0.000). The expression of miR- 506 was significantly correlated with the pathological factors such as intrahepatic metastasis, TNM staging and tumor thrombus in patients (χ2==6.534, 5.452, 5.736, P=0.011, 0.020, 0.017). Conclusion The expression of miR- 506 in liver cancer is lower than that of paracancerous tissue, and the abnormal expression of miR- 506 gene plays an important role in the development and progression of liver cancer. Key words: Carcinoma, hepatocellular; MicroRNA; Real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction
