Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of Caveolin-1 and RhoE in primary liver carcinoma (PLC),and their relation to the clinicopathological features and the prognostic value. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to assess the expression of Caveolin-1 and RhoE in 20 normal liver tissues,32 cirrhosis tissues and 68 PLC tissues. Results The expression rate of Caveolin-1 in normal liver tissues, cirrhosis tissues and PLC tissues was 85.00% (17/20),56.25% (18/32) and 27.94% (19/68) with significant difference (P < 0.05).The expression levels of Caveolin-1 were related to histology grade and blood vessel invasion of PLC (P < 0.05).The expression rate of RhoE in normal liver tissues, cirrhosis tissues and PLC tissues was 95.00% (19/20),71.88% (23/32) and 50.00% (34/68) with significant difference (P < 0.05).There was a close relation between the expression of RhoE and histology grade, blood vessel invasion and TNM stage (P < 0.05).Conclusion The expression of Caveolin-1 and RhoE may play an important role in the carcinogenesis of liver carcinoma. Key words: Primary liver carcinoma; Caveolin-1 ; RhoE
