Abstract

Objective To investigate the control role on adolescent myopia development by prismatic combination of lens. Methods Two groups were randomly set from 80 students with myopia from Dexing secondary high school.Conventional glasses for hypermetropia were used in control group,and additional prismatic combination of lens was used in therapy group.Far diopter,corrected visual acuity,distance phoria values,positive relative accommodation,negative relative accommodation were recorded.The reviews were conducted every three months for 2 years.The glasses were changed when the far diopter increased for 0.50D or 0.75D.Besides,positive and negative relative positive relative accommodations were evaluated in other 40 students with normal sight. Results Average increase value on degree of myopia was (0.812±0.325)D for therapy group,(1.625±0.739)D for comparison group.The myopia development progress for therapy group was apparently lower than comparison group (t =9.009,P ＜ 0.001). Conclusions The reasonable application of prismatic combination of lens can control the development of adolescent mvopia. Key words: Prism; Accommodation; Myopia
