Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) combined with ginkgo leaf extract and dipyridamole on ischemic anterior optic neuropathy (IAON).Methods Seventy-six monocular cases of IAON were divided into the HBO group and the control group, each consisting of 38 cases. The control group was only treated with ginkgo leaf extract and dipyridamole injection (routine therapy),while the HBO group received HBO therapy combined with routine therapy, all with a treatment course of 30 days.Visual acuity and visual field were examined to evaluate their therapeutic effects. Results Total effective rate for the HBO group was 92.1%,while that for the control group was 73.7%.Significant statistical differences were marked in therapeutic effects, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups (P < 0.05).Conclusions HBO combined with ginkgo leaf extract and dipyridamole seems to have relatively good therapeutic effects for ischemic anterior optic neuropathy. Key words: Ischemic anterior optic neuropathy; Hyperbaric oxygen; Ginkgo leaf extract and dipyridamole
