Abstract
At the 12th annual meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Bronson S. Ray, the speaker of honor, contributed essays on the surgery of recurrent intracranial tumors as well as on trends in neurosurgery. His article on the surgical treatment of 12 cases of acromegaly is complemented by a follow-up report of Cushing's cases of pituitary adenoma presented by German and Flanigan. Montgomery of London discussed the role of the pituitary and its tumors in Cushing's syndrome, while White summarized 33 cases of aneurysm mistaken for hypophyseal tumors, adding three cases of his own. Regarding the use of heavy particles in neoplastic, metabolic, and neurological disease, Lawrence discussed irradiation of the hypophysis (150 cases of breast cancer, 71 with diabetic neuropathy, 20 with acromegaly, and 2 with Cushing's syndrome).
