Abstract
Purpose:In communication sciences and disorders (CSD), clinical impact is paramount. Without clinical impact of research, evidence-based practice is not possible. Unfortunately, clinical impact of research is often overlooked or underappreciated. The purpose of this forum is to provide guidance to current and future CSD researchers about how to maximize the clinical impact of their research. A secondary purpose is to increase researchers’ and their institutions’ awareness of the importance of clinical impact and the need to document it for tenure and promotion. The prologue introduces four articles that cover topics related to clinical practice research, knowledge brokering, disseminating via social media, and documenting impact for promotion.
