Abstract

To the Editor: Anogenital pruritus, or intense itching localized to the anal, perianal, and genital skin, is a common condition in dermatology. When no cause can be identified for their pruritus, patients are considered to have idiopathic anogenital pruritus (IAP). These individuals often suffer chronically, with decreased quality of life due to limited topical and hygiene-directed treatments. Several etiologies have been proposed for IAP, including lumbosacral radiculopathy,1 psychological conditions,2,3 inguinal hernia, sweating, and diet.
