Abstract

1. Clinical experience with a foroblique fiberoptic esophagoscope indicates that it is a useful instrument. 2. The examination is relatively comfortable for the patient and can be performed without an assistant. 3. Esophagitis, esophageal varices, esophageal carcinoma, and esophageal achalasia were readily visualized. 4. Color motion pictures of the various lesions can be obtained. 5. The instrument may have significant value in the study of normal and abnormal motility of the esophagus.
