Abstract

lhd 1 e eve opment of a new type of resilient plastic offers promise as a soft liner for complete dentures, but proves disappointing in a clinical test involving problem denture patients. Failure to realize the objectives of complete denture treatment, particularly the objectives of patient comfort, and preservation of oral health and oral structure, is observed almost daily. The presence of battered and abused tissues which support well-designed and well-constructed complete dentures has prompted much thought on the usefulness of a permanent type of resilient denture liner. The favorable clinical results obtained with the proper use of resilient tissue conditioners tend to support the advantages that might be gained from a permanent type of resilient denture liner.
