Abstract

This is the second edition of a book concerned solely with nerve conduction studies. The first chapter is a brief review of peripheral nerve anatomy and function, supplemented by an anecdotal survey of major historical contributions in chronological order. The next three chapters deal with different aspects of peripheral nerve function in a variety of clinical entities, as well as factors influencing nerve conduction. Techniques for testing of motor and sensory fibers are explained in detail, emphasizing the methodology preferred by the authors. The rest of the book is divided into sections pertaining to peripheral nerve studies in the face, neck, trunk, and upper and lower limbs. A final chapter is dedicated to diseases of the neuromuscular junction. Descriptions of techniques tend to be needlessly repeated throughout the text.
