Abstract

Objective To investigate and compare the effect of narrow-band UVB combined with valacyclovir hydrochloride in treatment to Herpes Zoster. Methods Comparisons of general effect, blain scrab and visual analogue scale score between the patients of narrow-band UVB combined with valacyclovir hydrochloride group and the control group. Results The general effect of the narrow-band UVB combined with valacyclovir hydrochloride group was 80.6%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group(Z=3.410, P=0.003). The narrow-band UVB combined with valacyclovir hydrochloride group took shorter time in easing pain and blain scrab while there was no significant differences of the adverse reaction between the two groups (x2=0.035, P=0.852; x 2=0.401, P=0.527). Conclusion Narrow-band UVB combined with valacyclovir hydrochloride was effective and safe for the treatment of Herpes Zoster. Key words: Valacyclovir; Herpes zoster; Narrow-band UVB; Postherpetic neuralgia(PHN)
