Abstract

Objective To analyze the effect of thoracoscopic surgery on thoracic esophageal cancer and the complications and lymph node dissection. Methods Seventy patients with thoracic esophageal cancer were selected. According to the different surgical methods, the patients were divided into two groups: the 35 patients who underwent right open thoracotomy were selected as control group, whereas the other 35 patients who had thoracoscopic surgery were treated as study group. The clinical effects, complications and lymph node dissection were compared between the two groups. Results The intraoperative blood loss and the total amount of postoperative chest drainage in the study group were respectively (121.25±42.20) ml and (1 012.20±411.14) ml, which were lower than those of the control group. The thoracic operation duration and postoperative indwelling time of drainage tube in study group were respectively (130.28±25.24) min and (6.35±1.20)d, which were shorter than those of the control group (P 0.05). Conclusions Thoracoscopic surgery has satisfactory curative effects on patients with thoracic esophageal cancer, which can reduce the amount of bleeding and drainage, shorten the operation duration and reduce the incidence of complications. Key words: Thoracic esophageal cancer; Thoracoscopic surgery; Open thoracotomy; Lymph node dissection; Complications
