Abstract

This report describes the potential we discovered for student clinical affiliations with some European rehabilitation centers. We at the physical therapy academic program of Louisiana State University Medical Center (LSUMC) were interested in identifying and contracting with new facilities to provide clinical education. The physical therapy students at the same time expressed interest in “Study Abroad” programs conducted by other departments of the university. In 1977, I received a World Health Organization Travel Fellowship and combined it with a sabbatical leave from the LSUMC to visit and examine facilities for student clinical experiences using essentially the same criteria developed for selecting stateside affiliations.
