Abstract
Objective To analyze experience of clinical diagnosis and surgical operation in treatment of adult dolichocolon.Method The clinical data of 50 patients who had been diagnosed as adult dolichocolon were retrospectively analyzed.Results 41 patients appeared intractable constipation.18 patients had recurrent episodes of abdominal distention,abdominal pain,nausea,vomiting and other symptoms.6 patients had acute intestinal obstruction.Sigmoid volvulus occurred in 5 patients.After diagnosed by surgery and barium enema X-ray fluoroscopy,40 cases were Ⅰ type,3 cases were type Ⅱ,and 7 cases were Ⅲ type.6 cases were treated with emergency operation,after elective bowel preparation,4.4 cases were treated with operation.4.8 patients showed abnormal changes under microscope.42 cases were followed up after operation,and symptoms of 38 case disappeared.Conclusion Diagnosis of adult dolichocolon is mainly based on the clinical manifestation and barium enema X-ray fluoroscopy.The most common treatment method of this disease is surgical treatment,and the results are satisfactory.
