Abstract

The catatonic condition has as much individual existence as any other form of primary dementia; it is episodic in following other morbid psychical processes. The condition is said to be caused by a particular form of cortico-psychical inhibition, combined with a subcortical inhibition and excitation, particularly of the cortical centres.
