Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of the method of inner ring inside and the method of inner ring outside on circumcision with Shang ring in children with phimosis. Methods A total of 204 children with phimosis were randomly divided into the inner ring inside group(n=104) and the inner ring outside group(n=100). The inner ring inside group received circumcision with Shang ring’s inner ring inside placed, whereas the inner ring outside group received circumcision with Shang ring’s inner ring outside placed. The operation duration, time for wound healing, rate of postoperative complications and rate of satisfaction with postoperative appearance were compared between the two groups. Results The operation duration, time for wound healing, rate of postoperative complications, rate of satisfaction with postoperative appearance were(7.26±1.58)min, (19.4±3.8)days, 2.9% and 97.1%, respectively, in the inner ring inside group, as compared with(9.74±1.87)min, (19.8±4.1)days, 9.0% and 90.0% in the inner ring outside group. There were significant difference between the two groups in operation duration, rate of postoperative complications and rate of satisfaction with postoperative appearance, except for time for wound healing. Conclusions In comparison with the method of inner ring outside of circumcision with Shang ring in children, the method of inner ring inside has the advantages of shorter operation time, fewer postoperative complication, higher rate of satisfaction with the postoperative appearance.
