Methods: The medical records of all children (<19 years) diagnosed with either esotropia, exotropia, or hypertropia from January 1, 1985, through December 31, 1994, in a defined population were retrospectively reviewed. Results: Six hundred thirty-two cases of childhood strabismus were identified during the 10 year study period, including 385 (61%) cases of esotropia, 205 (32%) cases of exotropia, and 42 (7%) cases of hypertropia.
