Abstract

Persistent central nervous system damage remains one of the main causes of mortality and long-term morbidity in previously healthy children who sustain acute traumatic or non-traumatic brain injury. In emergencies, intensive resuscitative measures, surgery, and specific therapeutic intervention are employed to limit the risk of severe cortical damage.
