Abstract

Yellow fever is an acute febrile illness caused by an arbovirus of the Flavivirus genus, transmitted to humans and non-human primates through the bite of infected mosquitoes. It is a disease with a high impact on morbidity and lethality, which has caused a great deal of concern these days, making it a major public health problem. The aim of this narrative review was to analyze and revise the main articles available on the clinical aspects, prevention and diagnosis of yellow fever in Brazil. The vaccine is the most effective way of preventing and controlling yellow fever. It is therefore necessary to use this technology to ensure comprehensive care, which must be resolutive and continuous, as well as to intervene in situations capable of influencing the health-disease processes of a given population.
