Abstract

1. 1. The clinical aspects of intussusception in our series of 111 patients with respect to incidence by sex, age, and month of the year, are essentially no different from those previously reported in the literature. 2. 2. The incidence of temperature elevation over 38 °C was considerably lower than that cited in the literature. 3. 3. Successful reduction by barium enema was possible in 41 per cent of the patients. 4. 4. Small bowel and ileoileocolic intussusception was encountered in 38 per cent of our patients, and 22 per cent of these patients required resection. 5. 5. With an increased duration of symptoms there was an increased incidence of temperature elevation over 38 °C and abdominal distention. There was no increased incidence of blood in the stool or a palpable abdominal mass.
