Abstract

1. 1. The different types of Universal bracket are described, and the effects of light and continuous forces through the use of light round wires are clearly demonstrated. 2. 2. Some of the auxiliaries to this appliance are shown. The uses of the maxillary bite plates and the benefits of the Nagamoto double-contraction coil springs are discussed and illustrated. 3. 3. Evaluation of anchorage as well as anchorage conservation by means of an extraoral appliance has been discussed, and particular emphasis has been given the fact that intermaxillary elastics are not used in this instance with this appliance. 4. 4. Two different methods of retracting canines are explained and illustrated with actual cases. 5. 5. The clinical application of the Universal appliance in actual practice has been shown in Class I and Class II extraction and nonextraction cases. 6. 6. The cephalometric evidence of clinical results in four treated cases is presented. Through the method of the Steiner analysis in cephalometry, the results of treatment with the Universal appliance are clearly demonstrated. The results of the use of extraoral anchorage and the lack of intermaxillary elastic force, as well as the movements in the anterior segments, are demonstrated in these tracings.
