Abstract

Objective To evaluate the application of Solitaire AB stent in assisting coiling embolization for intracranial tiny aneurysms. Methods A total of 9 consecutive patients with intracranial tiny aneurysm were treated with Solitaire AB stent-assisted coiling embolization. The intracranial aneurysms were located at posterior communicating artery (n =4),ophthalmic artery (n =3),top of the basilar artery (n =1) and middle cerebral artery (n =2).Results All the Solitaire AB stent were successfully placed in 9 aneurysms.Of the 9 patients, complete embolization of the lesion was achieved in 6 and partial embolization in 3 without rupture of the aneurysms during the performance.During the follow-up period,no new attack was seen. There was no in-stent stenosis or recurrence of aneurysms in 9 patients who were followed-up by the cerebral angiography from 8 to 13 months.Condusions The endovascular treatment of ruptured and tiny intracranial aneurysms by the stent-assisted coiling technique was safe and feasible. The long-term curative effects of the endovascular emholization on tiny aneurysms might be further improved by increasing the packing density and diverting blood flow. Key words: Tiny intracranial aneurysm; Solitaire AB stent; Endovascular treatment
