Abstract

Objective To study the clinical application of CMI (case mix index) in the simulation of the surgical doctors' performance appraisal. Methods The clinical data about the in-patients treated at our General Surgery Department from June, 2016 to June, 2017 was reviewed. According to the DRGs big data and clinical pathway, the performance appraisal mode oriented at CMI was evaluated. Results The CMIs for the three general surgical groups were not significantly different; the CMI for the laparotomy group was significantly different; the CMIs for the laparoscopy group and the laparotomy group were 1.07 and 1.05. Compared with the base value last year (1.00), the CMI was increased by 0.07 (7%), which indicated that the difficulty of general surgery increased. Conclusion The performance appraisal mode oriented at CMI can improve the treatment rate of in-patients and is helpful to understand the illness severity of the cured patients and carry out the reform on the performance-related pay.
