Abstract

Objective To investigate the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of complications of intrauterine device(IUD). Methods From November 2005 to August 2009, a total of 200 cases with intrauterine device complications were admitted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, and their clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. Results Among those 200 cases, 88 were downshifting, 76 were intrauterine contraceptive device embedment, 23 were menopause, 15 were breakage, 15 were ectopia out of the uterus, and 10 were ectopic pregnancy. None of them had periodic inspection after insert the intrauterine device. Conclusion Reproductive women with intrauterine device should conduct regular follow-up. The abnormal situation should be found and dealt in time. Key words: intrauterine device(IUD); complication; diagnosis; treatment
