Abstract

Objective To study the operation effect of diabetic patients with cataract treated by non-phacoemulsification small-incision extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation.Methods A total of 109 eyes of 96 diabetics with glucostasis underwent non-phacoemulsification small-incision ECCE and IOL implantation.Intraoperative and postoperative complications and visual acurty were observed.Results All patients were followed up for 3-18 months after surgery.The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) are better than 0.5 in 86 eyes (78.90%),between 0.1 and 0.4 in 19 eyes (17.43%),and under 0.1 in 4 eyes (3.67%).Conclusion Non-phacoemulsification small-incision ECCE and IOL implantation surgery is safe and effective for diabetic cataract patients with steady blood glucose level,which should be popularized in primary hospitals.
