Methods The clinical data of 526 cases of infertile women underwent hysteroscopy were retrospectively analyzed. Results Two hundred and fifty-eight patients(49.05%) had abnormal hysteroscopy findings, while only 79 cases were found by ultrasonography or hysterosalipingography (HSG) before hysteroscopy among them; 91 patients underwent failure of IVF-ET, 42 cases had abnormal findings in hysteroscopy. The most common reported hysteroscopic abnormality was endometritis (21.67%), followed by endometrial polyp (13.69%), then intrauterine adhesions (IUA)(9.32%). Conclusions In virtue of its remarkable higher sensitivity and specificity, hysteroscopy should be a part of routine work up in infertile patients as ultrasonography/HSG. The detection rate of hysteroscopy for uterine cavity lesion is higher than that of ultrasound and HSG, and it also can treat the lesions, which plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, suggested as check items of infertility patients.
