Abstract

Objective To analyze the clinical features of pulmonary fungal infection secondary to nephrotic syndrome. Methods The clinical data of 8 patients with pulmonary fungal infection secondary to nephrotic syndrome in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from June 2013 to June 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical characteristics of pulmonary fungal infection secondary to nephrotic syndrome were analyzed. Results Among the 8 patients, 5 cases were pulmonary fungal infection secondary to primary nephrotic syndrome, and 3 cases were pulmonary fungal infection secondary to secondary nephrotic syndrome; 8 patients were treated with glucocorticoids and/or immunosuppressive agents, of which 5 cases had chronic underlying disease. After 8 cases were treated with antifungal drugs, 6 cases were improved, 1 case died of invalidity and 1 case required to be transferred to another hospital. Conclusions Patients with nephrotic syndrome treated with glucocorticoids and/or immunosuppressive agents are prone to having secondary pulmonary fungal infections, especially the patients with chronic underlying diseases.
