Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological features, therapy and prognosis of primitive neuroectodermal tumors(PNET) in children. Methods The clinical data of 16 children with PNET were analyzed retrospectively. The survival rate was calculated by Kaplan-Meier.Results Among the 16 children,14 children died. The median survival time was 22 months. The median survival time was 13 months for group S (surgical resection alone) and 28 months for group S + R + C (chemotherapy plus radiotherapy after surgery),respectively. There were significant differences between the two groups (P < 0.05).Conclusions PNET,a highly malignant tumor, most often occurs in young people, and the prognosis is poor. The combined therapy is the main treatment for PNET,and the survival time of the combined therapy group is longer than that of the non-combined therapy group. Key words: Primitive neuroectodermal tumors ; Therapy ; Prognosis
