Abstract

Objective To investigate the treatment principles of acute leukemia in pregnancy. Methods The clinical data of 13 patients with acute leukemia in pregnancy who were treated in Anyang District Hospital from February 2015 to February 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among the 13 patients, 9 cases were diagnosed as acute myeloid leukemia and 4 cases were with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Four cases were were checked out before gestation, while 1 case was determined in the first trimester, 3 cases were checked out in the second trimester and 5 cases were confirmed in the third trimester. Eight patients were treatment with chemotherapy in pregnancy, and 5 patients were treatment with supportive and palliative care. Seven pregnant women died and 6 cases survived. Of the 9 newborns, 1 case died and 8 cases developed normally. Conclusions Patients with acute leukemia diagnosed before pregnancy should be treated actively. Therapeutic abortion and chemotherapy should be immediately offered to patients who develop acute leukemia during the first trimester; patients who develops acute leukemia during the second and third trimester can continue pregnancy with chemotherapy. The key factors affecting prognosis are full understanding of disease, prompt diagnosis and active treatment. Key words: Pregnancy; Acute leukemia; Treatment; Prognosis
