Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of biofeedback on irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Methods Biofeedback was used in 28 patients. The psychological status of IBS patients was analyzed with self-rating depression scale(SDS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS), and subjective symptoms with gastrointestinal symptoms rating scale(GSRS) before and after the treatment. Results Twenty-three IBS patients were suffered from psychological disorder. The scores of SDS, SAS and GSRS improved significantly after treatment(P 0.05). Conclusion Most patients of IBS have a psychological disorder. Biofeedback therapy is effective in the treatment of IBS.
