Abstract

This paper substantiates the concept of zoning the Arabian Gulf region based on the prevailing climate and topography. These zones reveal the kind of exposures that concrete structures are subject to; calling for suitable concreting practices. Accordingly, the authors identify these zones along with the challenges to concreting in a Gulf environment and further validate their use in recommending a local concrete code that ensures more durable structures.
