Abstract

The climate responsive strategies contained in traditional earth buildings can provide a theoretical basis for the development of sustainable buildings today. This study focuses on a qualitative analysis of cliff-side cave dwelling. The analysis shows that the climate responsive strategy mainly depends on the heavy envelope structure; Under the natural operation conditions, the indoor air temperature ranges from 10.9 °C to 14.6 °C in winter, 22.7 °C to 27.9°C in summer; the indoor air relative humidity varies from 26.8% to 58.7% in winter, 68.3% to 87.6% in summer. Thermal simulations show that 40.9% time of the year is comfortable in the bedroom.
