Abstract
The Stratosphere‐Troposphere Analyses of Regional Transport (START08) project, which continued through June, is helping researchers improve computer models of global climate in preparation for the next report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The project, based at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colo., has focused on the tropopause and deploys the U.S. National Science Foundation/NCAR Gulfstream‐V airplane (also known as the High‐Performance Instrumented Airborne Platform for Environmental Research (HIAPER)) to take air samples.
