Abstract

This chapter provides a detailed description and an up-to-date overview of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) market in Indonesia. Indonesia is a country that is both an important contributor to global warming as well as one of its primary victims. Some institutional and policy arrangements in Indonesia relevant to climate change are introduced. The main part of this chapter is dedicated to the state of play of the CDM in Indonesia. The paper compares the CDM in Indonesia with other countries, it elaborates on the Indonesian Designated National Authority (DNA) and sheds light on the country’s potential as well as the actual situation in the Indonesian CDM market. Selected players and their activities are mentioned; and recent developments in the national CDM market are highlighted, before a short outlook is provided.
