East Africa’s economy and energy systems are highly dependent on natural resources and therefore very vulnerable to current and predicted impacts of climate change. The major aim and purpose of this article is to provide a concise understanding of key trends, patterns and impacts of climate change in East Africa. It also presents the expected and current impacts of climate change on the energy sector of East Africa with a specific focus on Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
