Abstract

Technological solutions of rare earths (RE) were cleaned from actinium by extraction utilizing tri- n-butyl phosphate (TBP) and trialkyl amine (TAA). In the system 100% TBP-RE water solution-HNO 3, the authors obtained a lanthanum-actinium separation coefficient of 2.7. Some rare earth oxides (REO) were cleaned from actinium, leaving a value of up to 2×10 −11 Ci g −1, in an extraction cascade of mixers-settlers. Under operational conditions, cleaning from actinium is carried out in a cascade of pulse columns up to the value exceeding two orders. Actinium is separated from the rafinate as lanthanum-actinium cake. At the same time the rare earths are cleaned from RaD and Ra.
