Abstract
The goldsinny, Ctenolabrus rupestris , on the Swedish west-coast has been shown to be a facultative cleaner with the ballan wrasse, Labrus berggylta , as the cleanee. Twenty-four cleanings were observed during 1975 to 1981. The cleaning pattern of the symbiosis is described and the low rate of cleaners within the species is discussed.
