Abstract

Despite abundant renewable and conventional energy resources globally, technological limitations and water-energy demands limit these resources’ benefits to the public. The field of sustainable energy research and development can undergo a paradigm shift with the help of cutting-edge Internet of ThingsInternet of Things (IoT) (IoT) sensing and communication solutions. In addition, the IoT in sustainable energy systems can address community energy security challenges with minimal trade-offs to the environment and culture by leveraging current infrastructure, including renewable energy technologies. Methods, situations, and tools for implementing the IoT into sustainable energy systems are discussed in length in this chapter. It hopes the IoT strategy in energy systems will improve system resilience, dependable data flow, and connection optimization by using the IoT in the grid. Additionally, the IoT research challenges and prospects for sustainable energy research and innovation are explored to satisfy our community's complex energy needs and develop a robust energy sector economy.
