Abstract

Present study is aimed to investigate the role of classroom environment in academic achievement. For this purpose 558 student studying in different government schools of rural area of Chhattisgarh State were selected randomly as sample. To measure the academic achievement of the student, the overall marks obtained by the student in different subjects (viz, Hindi, English, Maths, Science, Environmental Science, Social Science) of class 10th annual examination was used. The dependent variable of the study was academic achievement and independent variables were different dimensions of classroom environment. To analyze the data, regression analysis technique was used. The results showed that classroom environment played significant role to determine academic achievement of the student. The result of multiple regression analysis found that affiliation, task orientation and competition dimensions emerged as a significant predictor of students' academic achievement.
