Abstract
Femoral revision in total hip arthroplasty is challenging with much preparation required by surgeon in order to have the best outcomes. The Paprosky femoral classification system is the most commonly used, well-described, and successfully utilized classification system for periprosthetic femoral bone loss. It is based on the volume of supportive native bone in order to allow appropriate and durable fixation. This article presents an overview of the Paprosky femoral bone loss classification and the options for each type of defect.
