Abstract

In 1967 Andre Lwoff published in Nature, “Principles of Classification and Nomenclature of Viruses” (Nature 215:13–14). Such a classification rested on cryptogram with morphological and molecular characters. This classification, in addition to its heuristic value, was very useful notably for teaching.
