Abstract

An important element of ensuring the continuity of production is maintaining machines on a proper, high level of their performance and availability. The basic process which guarantees such requirements is the process of machine supervision realized properly and which involves not only activities connected with continuous monitoring of their technical state, but also with taking preventive and corrective measures related to the failures elimination. One of the key factors ensuring a high level of the process realization of the machine supervision is the right procedure of machine spare parts availability management. This work aims at developing a model of machine spare parts categorization. For the evaluation of the significance of spare parts in the correction process, the criteria connected to the machine corrective measures performance and logistics have been adopted. The proposed parts categorization, and determining the importance of a spare part in the machine corrective processes will have a substantial impact on reducing the time of a failure removal. Additionally, the adopted evaluation criteria in the area of logistics will have a considerable effect on the purchase lead time of spare parts as well as on reducing the costs related with their purchase and maintenance. The model was verified in practice.
